Women’s History Month ‘25 and YWCA Monterey County News

This Women's History Month, we aim to shed light on the remarkable women who have been overlooked in history, often while their male counterparts received the recognition for their contributions. Women have played pivotal roles in advancing science, technology, and culture, yet their achievements frequently go unacknowledged. If this subject is of interest, consider this essential read: Untold Stories of Women Who Changed History: Celebrating the Women Who Shaped Our World

Researching women of color presents even greater challenges due to the additional barriers they face making their contributions harder to uncover.

The Search for our new CEO

Are you or someone you know ideal for this role? We are looking for a CEO to bring to fruition a bold strategic plan that tackles domestic violence while confronting racial inequities head-on. We need a dynamic leader who can secure the organization’s future and build strong partnerships throughout the community. Now more than ever we need a bold CEO whose visionary thinking will bring about the changes necessary for our organization to grow and thrive.

Federal Grant Funding

Many are asking how we are faring during the federal funding freeze and while we are awaiting further clarity, we remain optimistic. Although the funding freeze moved into litigation immediately, only "critical funding" has been released so far. Unfortunately, the definition of "critical funding" remains unclear. We believe that our services are critical by giving women and children an escape from violence. As we navigate this uncertainty, we are actively exploring California-specific grants to sustain our mission. We are resilient and focused on finding solutions. Our inclusive non-profit will continue to thrive despite the challenges ahead. We’re really looking forward to what’s next for our organization as we search for a new CEO who can help us take our critical mission to the next level!

During this uncertainty, community support can make a remarkable difference in our ability to stand strong. Thank you for your continued support!

April Brings our Anti-Racism Initiative: Until Justice Just Is

We believe that true empowerment requires addressing systemic racism. That is why every year we raise awareness about institutional and structural racism. This year, Until Justice Just Is (UJJI), the theme is Equity in Action: Exposing Myths and Redefining Justice. It will cover topics for the 2025 YWCA Racial Justice Challenge. These topics include the Age of Misinformation/Disinformation, Interpersonal Racism, The American Dream, and the Racialization of Crime. Join us on this important initiative! Keep an eye on your inbox for ways you can contribute to UJJI by participating in our Racial Justice Challenge.

Kick off your commitment by signing the anti-racism pledge!

MC Gives fundraising results are in!

While we fell short of our $50,000 goal, raising $35,905 is still a significant achievement. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who supported our efforts to fund life-changing domestic violence services.

Thank you!
