Walk a Mile in Their Shoes

walk a mile in her shoes

Walk a mile in their shoes is our Week Without Violence Staff event where we will walk a mile in honor of survivors and victims of Domestic Violence.

Our dedicated staff strives to show the community they will do what it takes to help a survivor feel understood.  By symbolically supporting them, we bring awareness by walking in their honor.

YWCA USA Thursday WWV20 event is a virtual tour for members of congress. This is a virtual tour of facilities which provide trauma-informed services. These services meet the housing, justice, and economic needs of survivors of violence and abuse.

We hope to show first-hand how YWCAs help survivors and their families recover from trauma. By using emergency funding received from the CARES Act and annual federal funding supported by the Family Violence Prevention & Services Act (FVPSA) and the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), survivors have a chance to thrive. Because we are one of the largest networks of domestic and sexual violence service providers, this funding is critical. This funding will allow YWCAs to continue to provide necessary services.

Join our Virtual Tour with Congress

Register and join our virtual tour. We hope will inspire and encourage Congress to reprioritize COVID-19 relief funding for FVPSA and VAWA.  Stay tuned for our Walk a mile in their shoes updates from our staff.

If our mission to eliminate racism and empower women feels like something you can support, please donate today.
