What Does YWCA Do? Action in 2022
What does YWCA do? We take our mission to eliminate racism and empower women, seriously. We continuously create opportunities to change hearts and minds within the community while providing a strong support system for those who are struggling with abuse. In 2022 we took action in Monterey County:

Action for Survivors of Abuse
Class of 2023, National Charity League (NCL), Monterey Bay Chapter has been volunteering for YWCA-MC donating a meal to the shelter every week with extra meals around the holidays and for our programs. They constantly include us in donation drives and have donated hygiene products, diapers, feminine hygiene products, wipes, clothes, shoes, and so many other items.
Help for Survivors of Abuse
We trained two different groups to certify them to be Domestic Violence Advocates. They now have the ability to provide support guiding survivors to the resources available to help them restart their lives.
YWCA-MC has provided safe shelter in an anonymous location where they are able to access full wrap-around services tailored to their individual needs.
YWCA-MC offers Mental Health services including therapy for those suffering the trauma of abuse from both Domestic Violence and Human Trafficking.
Our team putting our mission into action by walking together to take a stand against racism until justice just is. Christine made progress with the US Armed Forces!
Our YEA team created a Youtube video to show our youth how to spot red flags for dating violence.
YWCA-MC recognizes that all those who suffer from Domestic Violence and Human Trafficking deserve to be helped. We joined the pride celebrations to spread the message.
Community Support
Along with the many local Non Profits that provide support, we like to recognize our other supporters! $550 was raised through independent fundraisers on Facebook! We are honored Facebook users decided to dedicate funds to our organization for their birthday fundraisers!
Alvarado Brewery as part of their Brave Noise initiative presented the YWCA MC with $10,000 to go towards our DV services.
Each year the Man Up Crusade raffles this coveted belt buckle. This year we included gift baskets to up the ante!

Another way to donate:
If you are 70 1/2 or older, you can make a gift from your IRA account up to $100,000 per year. It qualifies toward your required minimum distribution (RMD) which can lower your income and taxes. If you are married and file jointly, your spouse can also make a gift of up to $100,000 from his or her IRA.
