Food Distribution Program

YWCA-MC has recognized the dire consequences of our economic breakdown due to Covid-19 and we are responding.  There are many people in our community who are struggling to feed their families and themselves.  The gap between those in need and those who can help has grown exponentially.  While everyone is struggling with the new reality, many Monterey County community members need immediate help.

Food is a basic need for survival and no one in the United States should starve, but the shelter in place order combined with gridlock in Congress has created an impossible situation.  People who worked are no longer working through no fault of their own.  The stimulus is long gone and the unemployment assistance has ended.  Congress is letting our country drown, leaving it up to each other to get through this. It's up to us.

To combat hunger in Monterey County, we have created a Food Drive and Distribution program to help the Monterey Community with this basic need. We cannot wait, we need to take action now so no child is left hungry.

We need to give now more than ever.  Now is an opportunity for you to show the Monterey County community we are above letting our neighbors and children suffer.  Quarantine is difficult, but imagine quarantining without enough food to get through the week. This is the reality and it's getting worse.

YWCA-MC is a non-profit that operates on donations.  We have a shoestring budget to maximize donations.  We have an excellent reputation for caring for our community.

Would you like to contribute to our Food Drive and Distribution program? We are asking for donations of canned goods, rice, dried beans, and other non-perishables to supplement our food bank.  There are several ways to help us and you will feel good about what you're supporting.  This makes a real difference.

1. Donate financially online by clicking Donate Now.  Your contribution will support the Food Drive and Distribution program.

2. Shop online and have it sent to 236 Monterey Street Salinas, CA 93901.  We only ask for the items to be non-perishables. Click on the link below to be directed to a store or app that will deliver to us.

COSTCO- Order NON PERISHABLE items through COSTCO.COM and they will deliver to our office.

INSTACART- Home Delivery from Smart & Final, Costco, Safeway, Bevmo, and Lucky’s.

3. Buy extra canned goods and non perishables at your next grocery trip and call us to set up the donation.  Our office number is 831-422-8602 and we can arrange it from there as many of us are working from home.

If our mission to eliminate racism and empower women feels like something you can support, please donate today.
