Christine Duncan Joins YWCA-MC as New CEO
Salinas, CA, October, 2019 – – After an intense and in-depth search, YWCA-MC is delighted to announce that Christine Duncan has joined our team. With both global and previous YWCA experience, Christine promises to bring a fresh eye to our historic work supporting survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking.
Christine Duncan hails from Scotland, having worked there for the last eight years. She holds undergraduate degrees in French and Spanish, and a Master’s in Social Work, and is still a practicing counselor. She spent her early career running both a Rape Crisis Center and a Crime Victim’s Assistance Center, so she’s had experience in areas close to our mission. She followed that up with her time as CEO of YWCA Elmira New York where she revamped their childcare program, significantly increased their funding, and developed a practice in women’s social enterprise in healthcare. More recently she has been working in Scotland where she assisted the Scottish government in designing a strategy for families affected by drugs and alcohol. She also ran a clinic with a strong family focus for individuals with substance abuse problems, and then became a social entrepreneur setting up a clinical consulting business between Scotland and the United Arab Emirates for expatriate families with similar issues.
Christine Duncan looks forward to working with our many partners in Monterey to improve and strengthen the lives of our most vulnerable residents.
